Gilles Elseneer (BEL) and Dennis Van Scheppingen (NED) are going to fight it out for the title of the second ATP Challenger Series Sarajevo Open.

Alex Bogdanovic (GBR) the biggest surprise of this year’s tournament gave up the match against Dennis Van Scheppingen (NED) due to the health problems
Born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia on May 22, 1984. Currently living in London, England. He began playing tennis at the age of eight. In the year 2001 he was No. 14 at the ITF Junior World Ranking. He came to Sarajevo on the Wild Card and one can say that he is the biggest surprise of the tournament. Among the others, he managed to defeat Swiss veteran Marc Rosset 7:6, 6:4.

Tomas BERDYCH (CZE) and Gilles ELSENEER (BEL) are also semifinalists.
Noam Okun (ISR) victorious over Alexander Popp (GER)
In an excellent game Okun managed to beat the 2nd holder Popp 2:6, 6:1, 6:3 and placed himself to the semifinals.

Alexander Mark Popp (GER) the 2nd Tournament’s holder
Born on April 11, 1976 in Heidelberg, Germany. He began playing tennis at age eight. Last year he was ranked 79 at the ATP list. Currently, he is ranked 118.
Tomas Berdych (CZE) the 1st Tournament’s holder
Born in Valasske Mezirici, Czech Republic on September 17, 1985. He began playing tennis at the age five in his hometown and soon he became a top junior. Last year, together with Levinski (CZE) he won the doubles title at Sarajevo Open 2003. Currently, his ATP position is 105.
Richard Gasquet (FRA) last year’s Tournament’s Winner
Born in Beziers, France on June 18, 1986. He began playing tennis at the age four, with his father who ran a tennis club. Last year he was ranked 173 at the ATP list and by the end of the year he finished as the youngest player in top 100. Today, at the ATP list he is positioned at 59.

Tomas Berdych (CZE) won against Peter Wessels (NED) 6:3, 7:6.

Alexandar POPP (GER) defeated Tomas KETOLA 2:1 in sets.

Kranusic/Zovko (CRO) won against Kadric/Setkic (BiH) 6:2, 6:3

Dodik/Gorcic (BIH) lost vs. Keirnan/Sherwood (GBR) 6:3; 3:1, after Gorcic gave up in the second set.

Tomorrow, Thursday, 18 March 2004, eight (8) matches are scheduled. Besides the others we will see Kranusic (CRO) versus Elseneer, Vliegen (BEL) versus Peya (AUT) and Krajan versus Van Scheppingen (NED).

Tomorrow, Thursday, 18 March 2004, at 11:00 o’clock in front of Sarajevo Cathedral children will have a unique opportunity to meet this year’s tournament tennis players and to enjoy playing with them. All kids are more than welcome!
Interesting matches today
Interesting matches are expected today as well, between the first holder Chez Tomas Berdych and Holand player Pitera Veselsa, as well as the second holder German Alexander Pop, and Tomas Ketola from Finland.

Two Bosnian doubls team are schedukled for tomorrow as well. Gorcic/Dodig against Kiernan/Sherwood from >Germany, and Kadric/Setkic against Kranusic/Zovko from Croatia.

The matches are expected to start at noon.

After the excellent game Bosnian-German pear Fetahagic/Huelsen lost against the Chez-German pear Levinski/Vaske 3:1 in the sets.

Ismar Gorcic plays today at 19:00 against the Belgian Jules Ezener who is ranked 121 at the ATP list and who is also the 7th holder of this years’ BH Telecom Sarajevo Open.

An interesting match is expected between the second holder of this years’ tournament, German Alexander Pop, and Janko Tipsarevic from Serbia and Montenegro. The start of the match is scheduled today, March 16th, at 12:00. The start of today’s matches is planned for 11:00.

4:6, 2:6 in the first round of the Challenger tournament BH Telecom Sarajevo Open 2004. Despite his strong efforts in the first set, the young Bosnian tennis player lost 2:0 in sets from Tabara who is ranked 131 on the ATP list.

From five bosnian players only Zlatan Kadri? has qualified for the second qualifying round of the tournament, where he lost from Lovro Zovko 2:6, 0:6. Only Ismar Gor?i? will participate on the Main Draw (wild card).

Qualifying matches of Sarajevo Open 2004 had been played during the weekend. The main tournament starts on Monday.
